Jam Band All Stars Return To Athens

Athens based concert production company A–Town Roots is thrilled to be bringing back the ever-eclectic Joe Marcinek Band back to The Venue of DRXVMS on Friday, Nov. 11. The concert will be also feature regional one–man–band Dallas Craft.

The Joe Marcinek Band is an ever-evolving mixture of original compositions and incredible musicians. Each show has a slightly different lineup and interpretation. The music is a blend of jazz and funk with a cerebral emphasis on groove and improvisation. Past performers were Marcinek include Jason Hann of The String Cheese Incident, Kris Meyers of Umphrey’s McGee and Bernie Worrell of legendary Parliament-Funkadelic.

Joining Marcinek will be another lineup of musicians with extremely diverse backgrounds. On keys will be Holly Bowling, who is famous for transcribing the intricate music of Phish and The Grateful Dead for solo piano. Cody Dickinson of blues rock group North Mississippi Allstars will be taking the lead on percussion, with funky bassist Pennal Johnson rounding out the group.

Opening the show will be Dallas Craft. Craft is a young musician with a lot of promise ahead of him. His vocals are soulful and he combines live looping, guitar, and beat boxing to create a unique, organic sound.

The concert will begin at 10 p.m. and the cover will be $10.
