At some point the late sparks for Ohio may fail, but for now the No. 6-ranked mid-major according to collegeinsider.com continues to use late rallies to get big wins, including Saturday’s 79-70 win over Murray State.

Before any rally could be thought of for Ohio, it was Murray State who went on a big run of their own midway through in the second quarter. Down 28-17, it appeared that this game would be over early on. However, the Racers went on a huge 13-0 run that gave them the 30-28 lead.

The Bobcats missed 10 straight shots during that five-minute stretch. Luckily for the Bobcats they were able to rebuild some of their momentum, going on a 7-0 run of their own to take a 38-36 lead into halftime.

When thinking of the Ohio Bobcats women’s basketball team one name comes to mind: Queira Lampkins. Once again she was the star of the show for Ohio and was the team’s key to victory with a huge second half. In the third quarter alone Lampkins had 11 points and three steals to help the Bobcats rebuild their lead. Lampkins finished the game with 28 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

In the fourth quarter the Bobcats once again overpowered the Racers who were unable to gain any traction or come close to starting a run like the one in the second quarter, leading to Ohio taking the big advantage late.

The Bobcats will next play at Middle Tennessee State on Wednesday where they will look to improve to 5-0.
