A quick week of basketball it was for the Marauders boys and girls teams this week. Weather conditions slowed down the schedule and each team played only one game this past week. Both teams are on streaks but on different sides of the win-loss column.

For the boys, their six game winning streak increased to one more as they defeated the Eastern Eagles at their place 59-53. Sitting at second place in the TVC-Ohio conference, they were supposed to play the third place Athens Bulldogs on Jan. 6 and help their conference record but due to weather concerns, the game was postponed. The date for the game is yet to be announced. The Marauders are averaging 65.7 points a game in their seven game win streak.

The girls’ streak is the opposite as the boys’. Averaging 39 points and giving up an average of 65 points over their last three game, the Lady Marauders are on a three game losing streak. The Lady Marauders lost to Logan at their place 51-40 on Jan. 4 and the opportunity of a bounce back game was interrupted the next day. The Vinton County Vikings match-up was also postponed due to the weather conditions. The Lady Marauders are standing at 5-4 overall and 3-1 in the conference which places them at third in the conference.

The boys’ team will be on the road next week when they take on Southern (4-4) (3-2, TVC Hocking) and the first place Vinton County Vikings (8-0) (4-0, TVC Ohio).

The girls’ team will take on Belpre (9-3) (7-2,TVC-Hocking) at home and first place Alexander (8-2) (4-0, TVC-Ohio) away next week.
