The Spartans get back in the win column after a five game losing streak by defeating the Raiders of River Valley 68-38. Alexander dominated the paint on offense, scoring the majority of their points down low.

Both Chace Harris and Luke Kish both had big scoring games for the Spartans tonight. Harris was a force down low controlling the paint and scoring 21 points and grabbing five rebounds. Not far behind him was Luke Kish who scored 20. Genesis Williams controlled the boards snatching 10 rebounds.

“Luke’s been working hard this summer. It was nice to see him breakout and help out Chace Harris,” said Coach Kearns.

Alexander came out early in the game with their full-court press forcing turnovers that led to quick points. They were also able to hold River Valley to only 38 points.

In the first half, River Valley had trouble moving the ball up court and setting up their offense. Alexander was able to force bad passes equaling turnovers.

For River Valley,  Dustin Barber tried to keep the Raiders in the thick of things with 14 points and two rebounds.

The 2-3 zone defense of River Valley was unable to stop the powerful Alexander offense from moving the ball and finding open high percentage shots.

“Getting guys in open space and getting good rhythm was important. We were able to move the ball and move players and get the shots we take on a daily basis rather than forcing shots,” said Coach Kearns.

Alexander improves to 5-6 on the season and looks to keep the momentum on their side this Friday on the road against Nelsonville-York Buckeyes.
