Athens Voices USA 2017 Opens Jan. 14
< < Back to athens-voices-usa-2017-opens-jan-14Athens Voices USA is an all media, juried art exhibition featuring the diverse styles and visions of local artists from any Athens community in the United States, organized and presented by the Dairy Barn Arts Center. This year’s exhibition will feature 42 artists from Athens, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia.
This year’s jurors were Darryl Halbrooks from Athens, Kentucky, Marcy Nighswander from Athens, Ohio and Tatiana Veneruso from Athens, Georgia. The jurors selected works for the show based on originality, innovation, concept, technique, and craftsmanship.
“As a multidisciplinary panel, we were able to offer one another insights into our respective mediums which aided the evaluation process,” said Tatiana Veneruso. “As a jury, we looked not only for skill but originality and strength of concept resulting in a diverse collection of contemporary art. I was very impressed with the variety of work in both materials and subject matter.”
Accepted works will be on display at the Dairy Barn Arts Center from Jan. 14 to March 25, 2017, with an opening reception and awards ceremony on Jan. 13 from 5-8 p.m. Admission is $5 and winter hours are Tuesday-Saturday 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Dairy Barn Arts Center would like to thanks this year’s sponsors- Texas Roadhouse and The Ohio University Inn.
