Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville presents two very different musical performances this week: Americana string band The Steel Wheels on Thursday, April 3 and Saharan blues band Tinariwen on Friday, April 4.

Several top-notch acts were added to the 2014 Nelsonville Music Festival lineup today, including Shovels and Rope, Valerie June, Kurt Vile & The Violators and St. Paul and the Broken Bones.

The festival, scheduled for May 29-June 1 at Hocking College, boasts more than 40 bands on three stages, along with camping, kids' activities, local artisan vendors and more.

Ohio University will welcome Sybarite5 to the Baker Center Theater on Tuesday, April 1 at 7:30 p.m.

As the first string quintet ever selected as a winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition in its 60-year history, the group is described as "a must see spring performance for all ages."

From Mozart to Radiohead, Sybarite5's eclectic repertoire and dynamic performance style has been attracting fans throughout the music world.

Nationally recognized Elvis tribute artist Dwight Icenhower will return to Stuart’s Opera House in Nelsonville on Saturday, March 29 at 8 p.m.

Raised in Pomeroy, Ohio, Icenhower began his Elvis career by singing karaoke at a local fair when he was just 16 years old. Since then, he has become one of the very few Elvis tribute artists to make a full-time career out of performing, playing 4-5 shows weekly throughout the U.S.

The music scene is alive and well in central Ohio, and Jim Morris, owner of Columbus' Mug & Brush Barber Shop, is doing his part to support and promote local artists. Barber shop by day, at night his North High Street location becomes the setting for The Mug & Brush Sessions, a video series featuring area musicians.

The four-day music festival Hoopla in the Hills will kick off at its new location at The Venue on Route 56 Thursday and will feature more than 60 acts on various stages.

The family-friendly festival has previously been held at Poston Lake Music Park in Guysville, but organizers switched locations this year to allow for a larger crowd.

Headlining the festival will be Papadosio, who will perform at midnight on both Friday and Saturday. While the band members now hail from Asheville, N.C., the band was first formed in Athens.
