When Supernobody performed their first show at the 2013 Nelsonville Music Festival, they attracted a lot of attention: a supergroup made up of Athens music veterans, fronted by one of the area's most respected songwriters. It also helped that they had a stunning debut album under their belts.

One year later, the band is back with another collection of '70s-inspired songs, called Old Strange Power.

The Lennon Orchestra played classic Beatles tunes for a joyous crowd on Saturday, but they changed one particular song to get the crowd going: "Why Don't We Boogie on the Bricks?"

With plenty of local food, drinks, a bigger children's area and two music stages, Boogie on the Bricks came dancing into its 10th year in Athens.

The event that began at noon Saturday featured 14 musical performances, a beer garden and vendors of all sorts.

The Trimble Local Marching Band recently received the gift of music in the form of a dozen instruments thanks in part to the effort of two sisters.

Jean Cunningham and Jan Hodson approached Trimble Marching Band Director Dennis Ullman earlier this year about the band’s need for instruments.

“We grew up in Glouster before our parents moved us to The Plains in 1966. We had been in the band at Trimble Local and it was a character-building experience for us, so we know the value that music and marching band can have in the life of children,” said Hodson.
