If recent trends are anything to go by, the vinyl LP--the large, sometimes crackly predecessor to the CD--is making a comeback.

Starting this weekend, local record store denizens will have one more piece of wax to add to their collections: Athens band Hex Net is releasing an LP version of its debut, Future Holds.

The best day of the year is almost upon us: The Aquabear Legion Pancake Breakfast is being held on Sunday, Feb. 17 at United Campus Ministry, located at 18 North College Street, Athens, Ohio.

Once again Aquabear Legion is partnering with area food producers and businesses to make the meal all-local, including Shagbark Seed & Mill, Snowville Creamery, Sticky Pete’s Maple Syrup, Donkey Coffee, Fluff Bakery & Catering, Jackie O’s Pub and Brewery, and King Family Farm.

Ohio University Lancaster will mark Black History Month with an evening of music and historical reflection. 

On Thursday, Feb. 28, jazz flautist Galen Abdur-Razzaq and Civil War historian Dr. Leonne Hudson will bring African American history to life on the Wagner Theatre stage.

The event is being put on by Ohio University Lancaster’s Diversity Committee and Cultural Events Committee.

Victor Rasgaitis' group The Ridges has performed with numerous bands in cities and towns throughout the U.S. However, few of those bands had ever set foot in Athens, Ohio.

Rasgaitis is hoping to change that with "The Ridges Present," a new concert series debuting this Thursday at Casa Cantina.
