This Saturday, Neil Diamond and Etta James will rub shoulders with Stevie Nicks, Garth Brooks and Ray Charles during A Night With the Legends, a popular annual fundraiser for Stuart's Opera House.

Now in its fifth year, the show features Athens and Nelsonville celebrities paying tribute to some of music's biggest stars.

Organized by Athens native and Stuart's Opera House board member Alex Couladis, the event started as a USO fundraiser at the Athens Elks Lodge before becoming one of Stuart's most popular shows and an important source of revenue for the non-profit theater.

Stuat's Opera House will host Charlottesville, Va. band The Hackensaw Boys on Friday, July 27.

The free show is part of Final Fridays, the monthly art gallery hop on Nelsonville's Public Square.

Since forming at Ohio University in 1996, Red Wanting Blue has released nine albums and toured the U.S., averaging 200 shows a year.

On July 18, those years of hard work paid off when the band appeared on Late Night with David Letterman, playing to an estimated audience of 3.2 million viewers.

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams returns to Stuart's Opera House this Thursday for her third appearance at the venue and her first with her band, Buick 6.

Born in Lake Charles, La., Williams was raised by her professor father, the poet Miller Williams. She first made her mark on the Austin and Houston music scenes in the early 1970s as a singer-songwriter, recording her first album, Ramblin', in 1978 for just $250.

Athens' annual Boogie on the Bricks street party took place Saturday with over 10 hours of local, regional and out-of-state music.

Court Street was packed for much of the day, with attendance peaking near the end of the night when headliners Big Sam’s Funky Nation took the Court & West State stage, followed by local group Elemental Groove Theory.

This slideshow includes some of the performers at this year's event, including Bright At Night, Sassafraz featuring Dysfunktional Family, The Spikedrivers, The Heartlanders, Big Sam’s Funky Nation and Elemental Groove Theory.

Clarence Spady performed at "Rhythm on the River" in Pomeroy, Ohio, on Friday, July 20, marking the fourth performance of this year’s concert series.

Headquartered at the Court Street Grill, the Pomeroy Blues and Jazz Society has hosted the series at the Riverside Amphitheatre for the past 13 years.

Before Spady took the stage on Friday, Rhythm on the River founder and Court Street Grill owner Jackie Welker spoke of the impact Clarence’s music has had on Pomeroy.
