Program Offers Free Seedlings to Landowners

Reforestation ProgramWho says nothing is for free?

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources is offering free baby trees for those with a lot of land and a love for trees.

In an effort to reforest more parts of Ohio, ODNR and Ohio operations of Mead Westvaco -- formerly known as Mead -- are offering free seedlings to private or commercial landowners who are willing to plant at least five acres of white pine.

Reporter Lauren Diedrich tells us how you can get these no-cost seedlings and why planting trees is so beneficial to southeastern Ohio, on a recent report for WOUB-TV's Newswatch.
