Beverly Jones, a career coach and leadership consultant, is a regular blogger for woub.org. Recently, she came to the WOUB studios and talked with General Manager Tom Hodson about how you can empower your career and also how to handle the emotional letdown after the completion of a big project.

She gives guidance on positive games one can use to get us through tough times during our careers.  She outlines specific steps to take to manage on-the-job difficulties and slumps.

Join the ABC Players for their upcoming musical adaptation of the book, "The Velveteen Rabbit", by Margery Williams, December 4-6 at Stuart's Opera House. Jodi Macneal, Director of the musical, sits down with the Assistant Director, Jenn Fritchley, and some of the young cast members to discuss their favorite parts of the production.

Show times are Thursday, December 4 and Friday December 5 at 7:30pm, and a Saturday matinee, December 6, at 2:00pm. All tickets are general admission, priced at $7. The show is being sponsored by the Ohio University Credit Union.

The Kennedy Lecture Series at Ohio University is bringing peace advocate Dr. Izzeldin Abuelaish to campus, Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 7:30 in the Templeton-Blackburn Memorial Auditorium to talk about possibility of peace in the Middle East.

Dr. Abuelaish is a Nobel Peace Prize nominee, an author, and a Palestinian physician. In 2010, he wrote an autobiography I Shall Not Hate: A Gaza Doctor’s Journey.  In the book, he talks about his loss and his transformation.

 Dr. Abuelaish had three daughters killed in January 2009 by Israeli shelling.

Dr. Anton Treuer, the executive director of the American Indian Resource Center at Bemidji State University, thinks all Indian references, as sports mascots, should be eliminated.

Treuer visited Ohio University this week and gave the keynote address for part of the university’s celebration of American Indian Month.

Treuer believes that all references to American Indians in sports mascots are racially demeaning and create a non-inclusive and sometimes threatening environment at sporting events.  He cited several examples from across the country.

Constant and meaningful communication is the key to effective team building and management in the 21st Century, according to career coach, leadership consultant and WOUB Blogger Beverly Jones.

A team leader must communicate with every team member and good listening skills anchor success, she said.
