Replacement Levy for Marietta City Schools on Ballots -- April 30, 2002 Newer books, technology upgrades, and more funding for extra curricular activities. All on the way to Marietta City Schools, if an 8.5 mill replacement levy passes on election day. Even though the levy will keep money flowing to the schools, teacher Deborah Henson says it won't dig deeper into taxpayers pockets. Henson says, "This particular levy is an extension and taxpayers won't be expected to pay more than they already are paying." The levy would replace one which will expire at the end of the year. Reporter Heather Thomas was in Marietta yesterday and talked with voters about their feelings on the levy. She found out the public has mixed opinions. Marietta's superintendent of schools says he's certain the levy will pass, but if it doesn't, the district does not have a back up plan. |
