Block Party Investigation Update

At approximately 0205hrs 10/26/14, Officers working the Halloween Event, while attempting to break up a fight in front of 31 S. Court, witnessed a male subject involved in the fight fire a weapon at least twice into the air and then flee the area. No injuries have been reported at this time. Multiple witnesses have been interviewed and an investigation is ongoing. After an exhaustive search by Ohio University Police, who were canvasing the area believed to have been travelled by the suspect, a weapon was located in the area of Hudson Health Center and is in the possession of APD.
APD has interviewed several persons of interest and at this time we do not feel an on-going threat to the public exists. This appears to be an isolated incident related to an altercation on Court St.
