After a hard fought match against the Kent State Golden Flashes (6-8, 4-1), the Ohio Bobcats (8-7, 3-2) fell prey to the Flashes and lost a close match, 2-1.

The game started off extremely fast for the Green and White, as the ‘Cats quickly found themselves trailing. The Golden Flashes scored twice within the first 10 minutes, giving them a lead they would never relinquish.

The scoring started when Caroline Corthouts got the ball past Lina Trucco just 1:48 into the game. Alison Harmatz tacked on another goal just five minutes later, giving Kent State its two-score lead.

Ohio would feel left out until Emma Eggleston knocked one into the back of the net. However, unlike Kent’ States first goal that was within the first two minutes of the game, the Bobcats could not scrap up a score until the final two minutes of the contest.

Statistically this was a very close game until the very end. The Eagles notched 15 shots, with seven being on the goal, and Trucco saving five of those. Though the Bobcats were just short, tallying 13 shots, five were on goal. Both teams barely had any penalty corners—Ohio has five to Kent State’s two—and the Bobcats electric offense was nowhere to be found.

Adele Sammons, the reigning Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week could only muster a single assist and one shot in the whole game.

With the win Kent State now tops the MAC while Ohio sits at third. The Bobcats have a tough match coming on Sunday as they take on the 16th-ranked team in the nation in Northwestern.
