Update 12 p.m. Oct. 28: Coolville Elementary School and Arcadia Nursing Center are no longer under lockdown. No other updates on the incident have been released by police.

Police are searching for a suspect in a reported robbery at the Hocking Valley Bank in Coolville that occurred at about 10 a.m. Friday,  according to authorities.

Athens County Sheriff Rodney Smith said the suspect entered the bank, spoke to an employee of the bank and left with an undisclosed amount of money. The suspect is described as wearing a Carhartt jacket, a hoodie, blue jeans and a mask. The suspect reportedly had a weapon, but investigators are not releasing a description of the weapon.

After receiving money, police say the suspect left on foot going west, in the direction of Tuppers Plains.

Detectives from the sheriff’s office and agents from the FBI are investigating, and Smith said a search has been conducted of the area surrounding the bank.

Coolville Elementary School and Arcadia Nursing Center have both been placed on a “working lockdown,” Smith said, but investigators do not believe there is an imminent threat to the community.

Anyone with information about the suspect should contact the sheriff’s office at (740) 593-6633. Anyone coming in contact with someone meeting the description should not approach the suspect, and should call 911, Smith said.
