Death Row Inmate Dies Apparently From Natural Causes

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Ohio prison officials say a death row inmate has died, apparently from natural causes.
The Springfield News-Sun reports authorities say 44-year-old Jason Dean died March 23 at the state’s medical treatment prison in Columbus “due to apparent natural causes.” Ohio’s Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says the cause of death remains tentative pending autopsy results.
Authorities said Dean took part in a four-day shooting spree ending in 23-year-old youth counselor Titus Arnold’s death in Springfield in April 2005. They said Dean’s 16-year-old accomplice killed Arnold after he and Dean chased Arnold as he was leaving his job at a home for at-risk youth.
The teen was convicted of aggravated murder and other charges but wasn’t eligible for the death penalty as a minor.
No execution date was set for Dean.
