After rapturously received performances at Stuart's Opera House in 2009 and the Nelsonville Music Festival in 2011, indie rock legends Yo La Tengo will return to Stuart's on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at 8 p.m.

Since 1986, Yo La Tengo have been one of indie rock's most critically acclaimed and prolific acts, recording more than 30 albums, EPs and soundtracks. The band is currently touring in support of its latest album, Fade.

"I'm very excited to have them back here," said Stuart's Opera House Marketing Director Brian Koscho. "I've seen Yo La Tengo several times, and the best time–one of my favorite shows ever by anyone–was when they played Stuart's in 2009. It was unbelievable…so much energy. Seeing a band you love that much in such an intimate setting is a great experience."

As an added bonus on Sept. 17, Yo La Tengo frontman Ira Kaplan will visit Ohio University for an onstage interview with School of Media Arts and Studies instructor Josh Antonuccio.

"Yo La Tengo's story is one of building a successful career. In the tumultuous environment of today’s music and media industries, their achievements are impressive," said Antonuccio. "They have a dedicated following, have consistently put out great records, provide soundtrack music for major films and continue to be darlings of music critics."

Kaplan's appearance, which is being presented by OU's School of Media Arts and Studies and School of Music, will take place at OU's Glidden Hall from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. The talk is free and open to the public.

Tickets are still available for the Stuart's Opera House show at Haffa's Records, located at 15 West Union Street in Athens, or by visiting www.stuartsoperahouse.org.
