Investigation is underway regarding a rash of vehicle break ins that occurred in the early hours of January 14 in the Rome Township area.

The Lawrence County Sheriff's Office reports that approximately twelve vehicles parked in driveways were broken into on Garnett Street, Lakeland Drive, White Avenue and Gardner Lane, most of them left unlocked.

Loose change, medications, tools, and debit cards were among the stolen items.

"None of our victims heard or saw anything, so we are asking anyone who may have information about these thefts to contact the Sheriff's Office," states Lawrence County Sheriff Jeff Lawless.

Sheriff Lawless also encourages residents to secure their vehicles, park in well-lit areas, and report any suspicious activity in the future.
