WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio (WOUB) — In a back and forth game between Miami Trace and Wilmington, both fought hard until the end of the game. Wilmington came out with the victory 24 to 21 over the Panthers.

Miami Trace began the game in rough fashion with a fumble to give Wilmington the ball in Panther territory.

It took some time, but Wilmington drew first blood against Miami Trace scoring the first touchdown on a passing play. This capped off a long drive for the Hurricanes.

However, about four and a half minutes later the Panthers clapped back. Evan Colegrove with the eleven yard touchdown put the Panthers on the board.

After a long stint of neither team scoring, Wilmington finally broke the silence. The Hurricanes scored another touchdown courtesy of an Aiden Price screen pass that Michael Brown Jr. took to the house.

Once again, however, Miami Trace struck back within two minutes with a score of their own. This score was another run play courtesy of Julian Baker.

After this score, Wilmington had a kickoff return which set up a sure fire touchdown for themselves. However, the Panthers we’re having none of it as they stood the Hurricanes up on the goal line with the help of some poor clock management.

After a slow start from both teams to start off the second half, kicker Jon Curtis booted a field goal through the uprights to put the Hurricanes up by three.

But Miami Trace wasn’t going to let that slide as they marched down the field in four minutes to go up 21-17. This four minute drive was concluded by a massive 30-yard passing touchdown from Trey Robinette to Cody Gibbs for the panthers lead.

Following another massive return by Michael Brown Jr. for the Hurricanes, they capped off a one minute and 20 second drive with a one yard touchdown to take the lead 24-21.

After a quiet fourth quarter from both teams, Wilmington came out with the win over the Panthers thanks to a clutch interception.
