Local writer and poet Celeste Parsons has lived in Athens County for nearly 30 years, but she still humbly considers herself pretty new to the area. She is vocal about her affection for the region, which she has crystalized with the publication of Nelsonville From A to Z, an alphabet book that she edited and called on the community to contribute to. Inspired by a similar book, A is for Appalachia: the Alphabet Book of Appalachian Heritage, Nelsonville From A to Z examines 26 aspects of the region relating to and organized by the alphabet.

The book is illustrated by Hannah Sickles, and was published by Monday Creek Publishing. All proceeds of the sales of the book will go directly to the Stuart’s Opera House Arts Education Program.

There will be a book launch event for Nelsonville From A to Z on Friday, October 25, at 6 p.m. at Stuart’s Opera House (30 Public Square, Nelsonville) that will feature a reading of the book and a display of illustrator Hannah Sickle’s artwork. The book will be available for sale at the launch, as well as in Stuart’s gift shop and on Amazon and in Barnes and Noble.
