Ohio Arts Council approves $343,922 in grants, 14 of them were awarded in Southeast Ohio

ATHENS, Ohio (WOUB) – The Athena Cinema in Athens, the Ariel Cultural and Performing Arts Center in Gallipolis, and the Morgan County Community of the Arts in McConnelsville are among the cultural organizations included in the Ohio Arts Council announcement of approved grants yesterday.

Out of 122 grants totaling $343,922, fourteen were awarded to Southeast Ohio artists, arts and cultural organizations, students, educators, and public arts programming.

The grants approved at the meeting constitute the fourth funding round for state fiscal year 2024.

Details on grants 
OAC grant funding was awarded in the following areas, with applications still open for many programs for fiscal year 2025:
Artist Programs
Artists with Disabilities Access Program provides funding that gives individual artists with
disabilities the resources they need to further their artistic development.
(30 grants totaling $63,068)
Project Support
Capacity Building supports organizations’ efforts to engage outside expertise to improve business practices or add new knowledge and skills that forward organizations’ missions. (23 grants totaling $64,400)
ArtsRISE is designed to support organizations working to expand access to their activities to more diverse participants. (22 grants totaling $105,000)
Fund Every County is an OAC initiative to ensure its funding is at work and investments are made in all 88 counties to the benefit of more Ohioans.

Arts Learning
Big Yellow School Bus helps schools and other educational groups defray student transportation costs to professional arts and diverse cultural activities. (20 grants totaling $7,447)
