The Belpre Lady Golden Eagles gained their second win at home in a row after coming out victorious against the River Valley Lady Raiders 61-44.

By sinking two back to back three-pointers in a row just minutes into the first quarter, senior Cheyenne Barker gave Belpre a lead which would last for the remainder of the game.

Although the Raiders put up a fight, constant fouls and turnovers kept them from scoring no more than six points in the first quarter and thirteen in the second leaving them behind 32-19 at half.

In the second half, the Golden Eagles maintained their lead while scoring 17 points in the third quarter. However, the Raiders came out ready to play on defense keeping up with rebounds along with putting up twelve points which helped put them back in the game making the score 49-31 by the end of the third.

Entering the fourth quarter, Belpre began to show sloppy defense recording six fouls which gave River Valley a slight advantage in gaining easy points with free throws that caught them up in scoring.

Unfortunately, the thirteen points scored by the Lady Raiders was not enough to outscore the 12 points scored by Belpre and left the score 61-44 by the end of the fourth.

The Belpre Lady Golden Eagles will travel to South Gallia for their next conference game on Jan. 19.
