USPS Agrees To Post Office Closure Moratorium

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown announced today the United States Postal Service agreed to a five-month moratorium on closing the 120 post offices and 10 processing facilities in Ohio.
Processing facilities on the closure list include Athens, Chillicothe and Ironton.
Brown said in a news release the moratorium will give Congress time to draft postal reform legislation. “This moratorium is a win for Ohio consumers, Ohio business, and Ohio workers. Though the Postal Service faces serious challenges, this will provide time to reach a solution that will strengthen the USPS, instead of crippling it. It is vital that all Ohio residents and businesses receive the same level of service and access to their mail,” Brown said.
Legislators have until May 15, 2012.
