Judge Rules Against Athens In Strip Club Case
< < Back toAn Athens County Common Pleas Court judge has ruled in favor of a company who wants to bring a strip club to Athens.
Judge Alan Goldsberry reversed the Athens Zoning Board of Appeals decision barring a strip club on Stimson Avenue.
In June, the board ruled that the club was not an appropriate use for the property.
Three Wide Entertainment has been trying to get approval from the board for the strip club for several years.
The company wants to put the sexually-oriented business in the Old New-To-You building on Stimson Avenue.
Goldsberry said in his ruling that the board's decision to deny Three Wide's application was "unlawful, unreasonable, and unsupported by the preponderance of the substantial, reliable, and probative evidence."
City Law Director Pat Lang says the city has not decided how it is going to handle Goldsberry's ruling yet.
