Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine is suing a pair of cemetery operators for failing to deliver grave markers to customers.

DeWine alleges his office has received 26 complaints against The Serenity Group, which manages the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Chillicothe and Circleville.

DeWine says the company agreed in an out-of-court settlement in May to resolve any consumer complaints filed before and after the agreement.  In the lawsuit filed in Ross County Common Pleas Court, DeWine writes The Serenity Group accepted payment but "failed to deliver goods or services ordered or allowed more than eight weeks to elapse without delivering said goods or services or providing full refunds."

DeWine says the new complaints total $35,000 in damages.

DeWine recommends people should research cemeteries and funeral homes with his office and the Better Business Bureau before doing business with them.
