Burrow Carries Bulldogs
< < Back to
The Warren Warriors traveled to Bulldog territory Friday night hoping to pull out a victory. Unfortunately for the Warriors they were introduced to Joey Burrow.
Burrow consistently used his powerful arm to hook up with targets deep down the field, while moving his legs for big chunks of yardage as well en route to a 66-14 victory.
Burrow heaved touchdown after touchdown, eluded defenders, and kept poise while inside the pocket in route to a near perfect game. Despite Burrows underclassmen rank, the sophomore quarterback played like a man in this one.
Burrow finished the game 17-for-23 with 423 yards through the air with an incredible seven touchdown passes. His numbers on the ground weren’t bad either, as he had 10 carries for 96 yards and a score. Burrow finished the game with more total offense than Warren’s whole team. Tyler Mcintosh was the main target for Joey Burrow in this contest. McIntosh finished the game with seven receptions for 164 yards and two touchdowns.
On the defensive side of the ball, Athens defenders made nothing easy for quarterback Dylan Leffingwell.
Leffingwell was consistently mauled inside the pocket and was forced to run whenever he left it. Leffingwell did have some nice passes at the end of the first half, one of them accounting for a touchdown. By that time the game was well decided at 32-6.
The Bulldogs will take their 2-1 record to Jackson next week, meanwhile the Warriors will try to even up their record with a contest against Meadowbrook.
