Guilty Plea For School Bus Attacker Mom
< < Back toA mother has pleaded guilty to attacking a bus driver and a young child on a school bus.
Jamie Qualls, 30, of Proctorville, was arrested last month after the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office says she got on her children's school bus and attacked a bus driver and student.
It happened at the bus stop in the 3800-block of County Road 12 about 7 a.m.
The bus driver said Qualls thought he was going to leave one of her children, so she got on the bus, cussed him and hit him in the face multiple times.
She also cussed at and hit a 10-year-old boy who was on the bus.
Wednesday, Qualls pleaded guilty to disrupting public service, a fourth-degree felony, a felony count of assault and a misdemeanor count of assault.
She was sentenced to four years on community control on intensive supervised probation, time at the STAR treatment facility and 200 hours of community service.
If Qualls would get in trouble again in the next four years, the judge has the option of putting her behind bars for 17 months.
