Washington County Children Services Board is campaigning to pass a tax levy on November's ballot.

Chairperson for the board Ginny McVey says if the one-point-four-six mills levy passes the board will restore the school outreach prevention program, hold training for parents and provide more counseling for kids.

McVey says childrens services is not just about going out and removing children from their homes.

"It's trying to get the families back together, its trying to get mental health people help for those who need that, the reason they're not caring for their children is because of issues like that, or drug addiction or whatever the problem is we're trying to find safe places for our children, it's very very difficult," says McVey.

Children's services operates 24 hours a day and McVey says the agency is understaffed.

This is the first levy for the board and if it doesn't pass McVey says she is afraid services will have to end.
