The Chillicothe Salvation Army has rescued 15 people in Ross County.

Sex trafficking has become an issue not only in Ross County but also in all of Ohio.

Lieutenant Krystal Boring said the problem is growing in Southern Ohio.

"There is a problem in Ohio, and Ross County is a rescue area just as with the drug problem that we see coming through our county that this is also a problem," said Boring.

Boring said that the 15 people who have been rescued are mostly female and they range from young teens to 60 year-old adults.

Boring said they turn people over to the Social Justice Commission for help.

"Once we find somebody that we feel is at risk or is being held against their will or being forced into some sort of sexual prostitution or lifestyle, whether it be via internet or on the street, and we turn that over to the Social Justice Commission and Human and Sexual Trafficking Commission," said Boring.

Boring saidthat the homeless population is at greater risk of becoming victims.

She also said you should be on the lookout to help people.

"If people suspect that theres an issue that they can give us a call and we can get in touch with our local human sexual trafficking division up in Columbus, Ohio or down in Cincinnati as well to get the proper people in order to help thse that are in need," said Boring.

Boring said Ross County has become a rescue area because of the locations of US 23 and US 50 making the county a main artery for trafficking of sex and drugs.
