Oak Hill police officers seized the largest amount of cash in the department's history after a routine traffic stop Sunday night.

In a press release, Oak Hill Chief of Police Christopher Gruber said officers found more than $11,000 hidden in a secret compartment of the car.

Officers pulled over a 2012 Toyota sedan on State Route 93 around 11:45 p.m.

Officers used a police dog to search the car after officers observed "criminal indicators" by the driver.

Gruber said the people in the car have extensive histories of drug trafficking.

The names of the cars occupants have not been released.
