The man charged with a 2009 bank robbery in Meigs County has finally been returned to Ohio to face charges in the robbery.

Investigators say Sean Mitchell, 44, of Athens, Ohio, robbed the Tuppers Plains Branch of the Farmers Bank on September 1, 2009.

In November 2009, Mitchell was arrested in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, following a bank robbery there.

Mitchell appeared in Meigs County Common Pleas Court Friday where he was arraigned on aggravated robbery, robbery, theft and kidnapping charges.

His bond was set at $500,000 10% cash.

Following his arrest in Mississippi, investigators said he confessed to the Tuppers Plains robbery.

They say he told investigators he used a grocery bag with a rock in it, and then told bank employees it was a bomb.

In December 2009, Mitchell was indicted for the Meigs County bank robbery.

It took prosecutors nearly four years to have Mitchell extradited back to Meigs County.

Earlier reports that he fought extradition were not correct.

Herman Carson with the Public Defender's office in Athens said the delay in tranferring Mitchell to Ohio was caused by Mississippi's not being a member of an interstate agreement on extradition.

He was picked up in Mississippi last Thursday where he was serving an eight-year sentence for armed robbery after being convicted of robbing the M&M Bank in Ocean Springs in November 2009.

He is being held in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail.
