Guernsey County will join about a third of Ohio's counties with special elections on the ballot Tuesday, with light turnout expected for the summertime vote.

The Ohio Secretary of State office says there are about 28 issues total across 23 counties. Of those, 19 are school issues.

Voters in Guernsey County will be voting on a 9.89-mill emergency levy for the East Guernsey Local School District. A particularly big one is a 12.37-mill levy for Tecumseh Local Schools in Clark County. The district wants voters to approve a levy that would cost the owner of a $100,000 property nearly $433 a year. Voters have turned down nine other ballot issues since 2004 in the western Ohio district.

There are three Clark County school districts with levies Tuesday. Elections director Matthew Tlachac says early turnout was mixed, and he expects it to finish at about 18 percent of registered voters.
