Interim Pomeroy Mayor Welker Gets Permanent Seat

Unofficial results are in for the Pomeroy mayor's race.
Jackie Welker landed 54 percent of the vote with 177 while challenger Donnie May received 152 votes, or 46 percent.
Welker has been the interim mayor since February after former mayor Mary McAngus resigned following a scandal accusing her of calling a police officer homophobic slurs.
"I'm just very thankful that the public was attentive enough to see the good work that we've got done since I've been in office," Welker said.
The results will not become official until the Meigs County Board of Elections certifies all results at a later date.
