Dozens of Ohio University students returned from winter break to find their apartements burglarized.

Athens Police are investigating break-ins that happened sometime between mid December and the last week when students returned.

In addition to missing electronics and other items some of the apartments were ransacked.

In one case an OU student said he believed the thieves used a drill to get through the deadbolt on a bedroom door.

Police believe the same thieves hit the other homes in the area.

Athens Police say they've responded to a number of break-ins over the last two weeks and they warn students to take extra precautions when leaving for their next time off: Spring Break.
