The streets of Athens might be quiet during OU's spring break, but it will be a different story upstairs at 18 West Union Street.

On Tuesday, March 4, The Union will present an evening of live music with up-and-coming indie act Water Liars, supported by some of Athens' best talent.

Fresh from the release of their self-titled third LP on Fat Possum's Big Legal Mess label, Mississippi's Water Liars will be joined by local acts Supernobody, Adam Remnant and Dead Winds of Summer.

Featuring Justin Kinkel-Schuster on vocals and guitar and Andrew Bryant on drums, Water Liars first made a name for themselves via their debut LP, Phantom Limb. The album, recorded on a whim with one microphone, was released by Misra Records in 2012.

That album, and the follow-up, Wyoming (Big Legal Mess, 2013), earned the group positive reviews from critics and fans alike. Water Liars are currently touring with bassist GR Robinson in support of their new self-titled album, which was released on Feb. 4.

Supernobody is a local supergroup led by Mike Elliott, one of Athens, Ohio's most acclaimed songwriters. Rounding out the band are music scene veterans Chris Biester, Matt Box, Shannon Grogan and Jay Hadley. The group's debut full length was released last summer.

Best known for his tenure with Southeast Engine, Adam Remnant is currently writing and performing solo material, with new recordings in the works. Dead Winds of Summer is the solo ambient project of Haffa's Record's own Andrew Lampela, who also performs in several local bands.

The show, which begins at 9 p.m., is being presented by Aquabear Legion, Peacock Productions and Blackout Booking. Tickets are $8 in advance or $10 at the door, and are available at Haffa's Records.
