Game 1:

Marietta wasted no time generating some heat at the plate in its doubleheader against Mount Union. In the Pioneers’ 19-2 victory, a runner was sent home in every inning but the second.

The major damage came in the seventh inning, when the Pioneers brought home eight runs to stretch their lead, 18-2.

Marietta produced a strong third inning as well, plating four runs to take an early 5-0 lead.

Christian Demko had a stellar day at the dish, as he hit safely five times in seven at-bats, drove in two runs and scored four. Mitch Geers followed Demko’s success, as the first baseman put together four hits and three RBIs.

The Pioneers’ accumulated 26 hits, with almost every active player contributing to the offensive success.

The offensive attack for the Raiders was slim compared to Marietta’s, as Mount Union gathered just nine hits by only five batters.

Anthony Morino led the way for the Raiders with three hits and an RBI.

Jason Byers continued his undefeated season for the Pioneers, collecting his sixth win on the mound.

Game 2:

The Pioneers continued their hot streak, reaching a double-digit run total yet again. Marietta completed the series sweep against Mount Union with a 10-5 victory.

The Pioneers were consistent across the board all night, countering any attempt the Raiders made at taking the lead.

The offense was widespread for Marietta, as the middle of the lineup delivered its fair share of firepower for the win.

Josh Ungerbuehler and Ryan Annett lead the offensive stride for the Pioneers, going 4 for 5 and 2 for 3, respectively.

Mike Finlan gathered his first win of the season, pushing his overall record to 1-2.
