Eight minutes: that is how long the Beechcroft Cougars chewed off the clock on the first drive of the game.

The Cougars not only dominated their first possession, but they dominated the whole game en route to a 35-0 win over the Maysville Panthers.

The Cougars scored a touchdown on their clock-draining opening drive, where they ran the ball 13 times, passed it twice, and had no penalties to go up 7-0 early. This set the tone for the rest of the game.

Maysville had its hands full with Beechcroft running back David Peoples all night with the back piling up  68 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the first half alone.

Maysville’s opening drive showed some promise for its rushing attack, but quarterback Jacob Miller threw an interception to Asan Crego, stalling all momentum. The Cougars were able to capitalize on that turnover with a Peoples five-yard touchdown run to go up 14-0.

Both teams were bitten by the turnover bug as Maysville turned the ball over again on their next possession when Miller was picked off once again. However, the Cougars were unable to capitalize on the opportunity and fumbled on the goal line, keeping the score at 14-0.

Beechcroft redeemed its red zone mishap before the half when Macyah Fleming took it in from seven yards out to elevate the Beechcroft lead to 21.

The second half saw little to no improvement for the Maysville offense as Beechcroft cruised to the shutout victory.

The loss eliminates Maysville from the playoffs. The Panthers finished with a record of 10-2.
