Ohio takes a win in three sets 25-17, 25-21, 25-9, against Virginia Commonwealth University Saturday at the Mortar Board Premier Tournament.
Senior Abby Gilleland clocked 14 assists for the Bobcats in the first set. She had 27 blocks total.
The second set came underway early when the ‘Cats trailed 11-3. After the long battle, the green and white came out on top, gaining a 20-19 lead with points by senior Meredith Ashy. Ashy led the team in digs with nine. On defense, senior Karin Bull had four blocks alone by the second set; she added two more on by the end of the game.
In the third set, freshman Erica Walker garnered four aces. She had a game total of five aces. Freshman Katie Nelson clocked three kills for the ‘Cats, overall she totaled eight.
Freshman outside hitter Stephanie Olman tabbed her first collegiate career kill early in the last set. By the winning point, she had two more.
The Bobcats look to continue their winning streak tonight at 7:30 p.m. against host Purdue.
