Meredith Ashy Earns MAC East Defensive Player of the Week

Senior libero Meredith Ashy took home the MAC East Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week. She led the Bobcats with 59 digs this past weekend at the Active Ankle Challenge in her hometown of Louisville, Ky.

Ashy had a team-high 11 digs in Ohio’s 3-0 sweep against Seton Hall on Friday, Sept. 11. She also led the match against Utah with 23 digs, a kill, and a service ace. She finished the weekend with a team-high 25 digs in the ‘Cats 3-2 loss to Louisville on Saturday, Sept. 12.

Ashy leads Ohio with 204 digs through 10 matches. She’s also added 24 assists, four service aces, and three kills. Ashy and the Bobcats will look to improve to 8-2 when they head to Florida to participate in the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational. First match is against Florida Atlantic on Friday, Sept. 18 at 12:30 p.m.
