MILLERSPORT, Ohio (AP) – The Ohio Department of Transportation is installing highway signs advertising some of the businesses that are remaining open while a deteriorated dam and low water keeps tourists away.

The signs are designed to boost Buckeye Lake region businesses losing money while the lake depth remains shallow and off limits to most boating while the dam is being repaired.

The Columbus Dispatch reports the signs listing the businesses will placed along Interstate 70 and at other locations.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has said the 4.1-mile earthen dam is at risk of failing because it has been weakened by about 370 homes and other structures built into it. A replacement barrier is being constructed.
