Ohio picked up its sixth straight victory with a 72-57 over Bowling Green Saturday.

The Bobcats faced some of their toughest competition in MAC play to date Saturday. Neither team could pull away in the first half. In fact, on three different occasions in the first half, the Falcons pulled to within one,

Working in the Bobcats favor, however, was that they always had an answer. With the score at 18 -17 freshman Dominique Doseck drilled a 3-pointer to push the Bobcats lead back up to four.

After two-and-a-half minutes of scoreless basketball, Kiyanna Black stole the ball and converted on the other end to give the Bobcats 39-36 lead. The lead did not last long, though. The Falcons took a 43-42 lead after Sydney Lambert hit two free throws with 5:57 remaining in the third.

That was when the game changed. Just 37 seconds after they lost the lead the Bobcats grabbed it back after a nice pass from Quiera Lampkins found an open Hannah Boesinger for a layup to give Ohio the 44-43 lead.

The Bobcats never looked back after retaking the lead going on a 16-0 following Boesinger’s layup. From there the game was all Ohio, as the team continued to stretch its lead in the 4th quarter en route to the 72-57 victory.

The team as a whole was tremendous on the boards, grabbing 42 total rebounds and 18 offensive rebounds. Overall, the Bobcats led for 38 of the 40 minutes in this game and had one of their best games from deep, shooting 12-33 from 3-point range.

As she has so many times this season, Black led the team in scoring with 18 points. Lampkins was big in the win despite only scoring eight points. She led the team in assists with five and tied for the team lead in rebounds with seven.

Despite the big loss, Bowling had multiple players that had standout performances. In fact, BG actually had three players finish in double-digits including Lambert who finished with a team-high 17 points.

With their record now sitting at 11-3 (3-0), the Bobcats are the only remaining undefeated team in conference play. They will put perfection on the line Wednesday when they travel to Ypsilanti to face Eastern Michigan.
