Wheeling Hospital Plans to Buy Ohio Community Hospital

WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) – Wheeling Hospital has announced plans to purchase Ohio’s Harrison Community Hospital in Cadiz.
Multiple media outlets report that the announcement was made Tuesday. The proposed transaction will be discussed further over the next several weeks before details become available.
Harrison Community Hospital CEO Clifford Harmon says that the acquisition has been a long process, and he is excited about the opportunity and the possibilities.
The hospital, which is the third-largest employer in Harrison County, Ohio, has been seeking a merger in order to stabilize the facility’s finances and continue providing services.
Wheeling Hospital CEO Ron Violi says their goal has always been to keep patients close to their homes and loved ones.
Once the hospitals have finalized the agreement, it must be approved by state and federal regulatory agencies.
