CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) – An employee with the West Virginia attorney general’s office has resigned on the day a published report identified her in a video in which she is seen reciting racist views.

Assistant communications director Carrie Bowe resigned in a one-sentence letter dated Thursday. She gave no reason and Attorney General Patrick Morrisey’s office did not say why she left.

The video entitled “Stop White Genocide” was posted to YouTube in 2012. It shows several women reciting racist views. Five friends and acquaintances of Bowe independently verified that she was among them.

Agency spokesman Curtis Johnson says the behavior occurred before she worked there and wasn’t disclosed until Thursday. He said it did not meet the office’s transparency requirements.
