In the TVC season kickoff week Eastern Eagles faced off against The River Valley Raiders at home. An extremely beaten up Eastern Eagles fell short in their efforts against a big River Valley team with a score of 57-42. River Valley dominated the glass grabbing 37 rebounds to Eastern’s 24 rebounds.

River Valley Center Jacob Dovenbarger led the way for Raiders with a double-double of 17 points, and grabbed 15 of his team’s 37 rebounds. The big man also dominated the defensive side of the ball grabbing a steal and four blocks. Also scoring for the Raiders were Jarrett McCarley with 14 points, Dustin Barber with eight, and Ian Poleyn with five points and nine rebounds.

Eastern fell by only 15 points against the Raiders with only 4 of their players contributing the score. The rest of the team combined for zero for 17 from the field. The Facemyer brothers made their presence known tonight. Senior Jett Facemyer led the way for all players putting up 26 of his team’s 42 points and eight rebounds. Freshman, Sharp Facemyer, shot one for 12 from behind the arch, but still put up seven points and five rebounds of his own. Jon Wolfe capped off the scoring with four points and six rebounds. River Valley’s defense was nothing spectacular in the win over Eastern as the Eagles flat out failed to capitalize on easy opportunities. Ultimately, leading to their fall tonight.

The Raiders start their home stand Tuesday night against conference rivals Jackson as they try to increase their record to 2-0 on the season. Eastern looks to bounce back Tuesday as they head to South Gallia for their first conference game of the season hoping not to fall in the season 0-2.
