Ohio teens will once more get the opportunity to preview 2017’s hottest fashion trends at the 27th annual Prom Style Review, presented in conjunction between Brittany’s Fashions and the Ariel-Ann Carson Dater Performing Arts Centre.

Under the management of Ariel Executive Director Lora Lynn Snow and Brittany’s Fashions owner Kay Hardway, over 100 adolescent models from all over southeast Ohio will stomp down the runway in dresses and tuxedos for the 2017 prom season.

“In the fall of 1990, Kay approached me about doing a prom style review showcasing dresses from her store and the services of other professionals that are part of the prom scene,” said Snow. “It sounded like a great idea and we had our very first show in 1991 and have had one every year since.”

For nearly three decades the presentation has played host to thousands of residents from around southeastern Ohio, and other parts of the state. Each year the show attracts a crowd of around 100.

In addition to dresses and tuxes, aforementioned prom-related professionals in hair, make up, photography, and other services will also advertise their businesses. Sponsors for the show include Brittany’s, Basket Delights, Image Gallery, Elite Tan, and Craig James Audio.

For many Americans, thoughts of prom may conjure images of underage drinking in hot tubs and inappropriate dance moves, however Snow and Hardway relish the opportunity to educate youthful minds in how to behave in the formal setting. Attendees will also have the chance to win one of Hardway’s gowns (up to a $400 value.)

“The young people learn about how to carry themselves in a public situation,” said Snow. “Kay gives classes on modeling and poise, the families get to come and see the young people on the show.”

The Prom Style Review will take place at the Ariel Opera House on Sunday, Jan. 22 at 2 p.m. Tickets can be purchased for $15 (V.I.P.) and $10 (general admittance). Tickets can be purchased online at arieltheatre.org, or the box office located at 426 Second Ave. Gallipolis, OH. Proceeds will benefit the Ariel-Ann Carson Dater Performing Arts Center.

“The fashions have changed, but the atmosphere has remained the same,” said Snow. “Kay helps us create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, so everyone has a positive experience.”
