The opening reception for the ARTS/West smart device exhibit, For the Love of Athens County, is planned for Feb. 2, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The exhibition will hang in the ARTS/West gallery space, 132 W. State St. Athens, OH, Feb. 2 to Feb. 25; with business hours 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. If interested, you can call 740-592-4315, first information on extended hours.

In December, ARTS/West sent out a call for community members who had taken photos on their smart devices of what they loved in Athens County. The subject matter could be any person, place, or thing. 56 photos were submitted by 15 people. Out of that total, 24 were chosen by our jurors to be hung in the gallery space. The other 32 will be included in a slideshow that will run during the opening reception on Feb. 2.

The opening reception is free to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The mission of ARTS/West is to make facilities, resources, and opportunities available to arts organizations, individual artists, and community residents.  ARTS/West harnesses community focus for all individuals engaged in the creation, performance, and exhibition of the arts and promotes activities preserving the beauty, heritage, and culture of our town.

The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this organization with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence, and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

Special thanks to the Athens Community Music Festival, the Athens Foundation, the Athens County and Convention Visitor’s Bureau and the Kleinpenny Education Foundation for their support.
