WOUB Launches New Series Exploring the Role of Music with Family and Friends

Music can magically connect family members with each other and with their heritage. It also can bind friends together through decades. We have a rich musical legacy in this region that is being preserved and passed forward.

To understand this dynamic, co-producers Jan Hodson and Adam Rich visited 10 area families and groups to explore the origins of music in their lives … and the role it plays.
They talked with parents and children…spouses…and long-time friends. They heard them play instruments and sing songs that are deeply meaningful to them.

Perfect Harmony

What they discovered was “Perfect Harmony”…so that’s what we are calling our new series.Yogendra_Music_15_Feb_2012_25

Every Friday, beginning Sept. 8, WOUB FM will air and post on https://woub.org/listen/ a new “Perfect Harmony” story.

The features will air at 6:30 and 8:45 a.m. during “Morning Edition,” at approximately 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. during “All Things Considered,” and on Friday evenings at 8:06 during “Crossing Boundaries” with host Bryan Gibson.

Each week’s story also will be archived on WOUB.org’s “Listen” page for listening at your pleasure.

If families or groups of friends would like “Perfect Harmony” to visit them and hear about their musical traditions, please contact us at either richa1@ohio.edu or hodsonj@ohio.edu.
