Sandra Sleight-Brennan To Be Honored By Art Bench Project

The Art Bench Project was formed in 2016 with the idea of bringing “lively” art to the Athens Hockhocking Adena Bikeway. The advisory committee spearheading this project is comprised of local community minded women who have volunteered countless hours in formulating a plan to make this happen. The first bench, to be located near Little Fish brewery and its beautiful wetland, is a commissioned piece that will set the stage for subsequent art benches.

Sandra Sleight-Brennan was an original member of the advisory committee and it is largely because of her vision for the Art Bench Project that we wish to honor her with the construction and installation of the first bench. Sandra’s vision reached well beyond this one project. Her lifetime of achievements included many areas of interest – environmentalist, historian, story-teller and patron of the arts to name a few. We hope the “Sandra Bench” will be a place of respite and quiet thought, not only to remember and honor Sandra, but also inspire all who visit the bench to be the kind of person that Sandra exemplified.

You can help us build “Sandra Bench!” A Go Fund Me account is also available at www.gofundme.com/athens-art-bench-for-sandra, or mail checks to The Art Bench Project, P.O. Box 2281, Athens, Ohio 45701.

With the help of our community, we hope to have a dedication celebration in honor of the completed bench before the end of 2018.
