Eastern’s seniors were welcomed with a sweet send off, a packed house, and a storied rivalry, but they couldn’t say their goodbyes with a win.

Eastern didn’t give up after their twelve point deficit in the third quarter. They came into the last quarter of the game with an urgency felt by the whole team that hadn’t been there before.

They managed to tie the score for the first time in the game three minutes into the fourth quarter. It was an amazing come back, but it wasn’t enough. After southern scored a three to break the tie, Eastern never recovered.

Southern did a great job of passing the ball inside to Arrow Drummer. Eastern’s defense was no match for Jensen Anderson’s ability to shoot the outside shot just as well as he drove to the basket.

Eastern’s coach David Kight praised Sharp Facemyer for his amazing performance tonight. Sharp lead Eastern’s stats with 21 points.

“He put us on his back in the first half and carried us. He was aggressive on defense, he was in the right spots, and he played an extremely well-rounded game,” David Kight said.

Sharp Facemyer was flawless from the three point line and Mason Dishong was a force in the paint. Despite these two players perfect shot records, Eastern still struggled in the first three quarters to match Southern point for point. The final score was 54-50 Southern.

Turnovers plagued Eastern throughout the game. They especially had problems with completing passes and moving the ball effectively during the third quarter.

Blaise Facemyer is already looking ahead after a tough loss.

“We are all going to go in to practice, work hard, stay focused…We have got to keep the confidence,” Blaise Facemyer said.

Going into the playoffs, Kight’s strategy is to stick with the playbook and not change a thing.

“We are who we are, we’ll finetune what we do and take our show on the road,” David Kight Said.

Eastern will take on the Tomcats next Tuesday in a makeup game at Trimble.
