TROTWOOD, Ohio (AP) – The Ohio Emergency Management Agency says a disaster recovery center is opening to help residents and businesses affected by tornadoes and storms that caused heavy damage in late May.

Ohio EMA says the center will be in Trotwood in southwestern Ohio’s Montgomery County. That’s one of 10 counties approved for disaster assistance because of the storms.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency, the U.S. Small Business Administration, Ohio EMA and other state agencies will have representatives available to explain disaster assistance programs and provide other information.

Officials say those affected by the storms should register for federal assistance before visiting the center at Trotwood-Madison High School. It’s scheduled to be open daily starting Saturday.

Ohio EMA says more recovery centers will open to support residents in other affected areas.
